Just wanted a bit of insta reality. Obviously we had a photoshoot with @beautifulhomesinthenorth and styled the tiniest slice of our house to perfection to show you our very lovely Christmas things. And it looks amazing. And we had such a fun day getting dressed up and doing the shoot.

But… you can’t see the other side of the room. Or the 7 years of borrowed orange curtains and then 2 years of paper blinds before we got our actual curtains. Or the deadlines and pressure behind getting everything ready for the shoot. FTLOTN is our passion and we adore what we do but the reality isn’t a perfect house and swanning around in cocktail dresses. It’s hard work, utter determination and quite a lot of burn out. It’s all encompassing and whilst there are many many merits to that we continue to feel like a swan gliding along the surface, looking perfect on social media, whilst peddling frantically below the surface or behind the scenes in a way that really doesn’t always feel sustainable long term. I know many small indie businesses feel the same and we’re more than happy to chat about the reality and the stresses and strains of running a business during our monthly community business walk. It ain’t always easy. And it certainly isn’t picture perfect. Although the products do look amazing…
